Stem cells are cells found in all multi cellular organisms. They are characterized by the ability to renew themselves through cell division and differentiate into a diverse range of specialized cell types. The two broad types of stem cells are:embryonic stem cells and adult stem cells. Medical researchers are very interested in the potential of stem cells to cure various diseases.
