What is Autism?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects how a person experiences and interacts with the world. It is characterized by differences in social communication, behavior, and sensory processing. People with autism have varying strengths and challenges, which is why it is called a "spectrum."

About Autism Acceptance Month

April is Autism Acceptance Month, which aims to increase awareness, foster acceptance, and celebrate the diversity and strength of individuals on the autism spectrum. While Autism Awareness Month has been observed since 1970, the emphasis is shifting from awareness to acceptance — recognizing that individuals with autism are an integral part of our society and deserve inclusion, respect, and the opportunity to thrive.
