International Poetry Film Festival at the Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center

The third edition of the International Poetry Film Festival, Los Angeles features screenings of nearly 40 poem-based films from around the world, including selections from France, India, Belgium, Ireland, and the United States, among other countries. NYPL: Written Work: Poetry, Labor, and the Global City (In-person & Online)

Poets Camonghne FelixDorothea LaskyEmanuel Xavier, and moderator Helena de Groot will read and discuss poetry, language, and labor. This conversation explores the way poetry embodies work, using NYC's multicultural rich labor history as the backdrop. Pioneering home recording artist Linda Smith will close out the event with a special musical performance. The event takes place April 15th at 6:30 p.m. EDT, purchase tickets online.

Community Literature Initiative: Poetry Publishing Class

The Community Literature Initiative is a non-profit organization dedicated to teaching writers of color how to write and publish books. They offer a Poetry Publishing Class, a 10-month program divided into two semesters: Fall and Spring, designed to guide poets through the intricacies of manuscript preparation, publication, and beyond.

Da Poetry Lounge: Open Mic Night

Da Poetry Lounge, (often referred to as "DPL" or "the Lounge") is a Los Angeles-based poetry venue that has been operating officially since 1998. The venue holds open mic nights every Tuesday (except for 3rd Tuesdays and special events). At the open mic, all are welcome to share their poetry or sit in the audience.
