- Go to Proquest
- Sign into your My Research account -or-
- Create your My Research account and sign into your account
- Use the "Advanced Search"
- Los Angeles Times goes back to 1985
- If your birthday is before 1985, explore other options below.

How to find an article published on your birthday from a online source if your birthday is pre-1985

Search the Rio Hondo College Newspaper El Paisano digital archives (1964-2016)
Search Los Angeles Public Library's Historical ProQuest Newspapers. You will need an LAPL card (available to all California residents). You can find the "Los Angeles Times Historical Archives (ProQuest)" database at LAPL's database page.
Google Books (Magazine search). Google is now offering a magazine search. See help screens in the next box (below).
Online Newspaper archives: Google News Archives. You will need to evaluate the article and source (newspaper) for credibility and authority.
California Digital Newpaper Collection. Coverage is spotty and quality is uneven. For example there may be only one newspaper listed on your date and it may be from a College newspaper. You will need to evaluate your source for credibility and authority. This database allows you to search/browse by date.
